October flew by, and it marked a handful of exciting moments in my life. A ton of new career developments began for me last month, so we'll start with the biggest change: I left my job at Cover FX, where I had been for just over 2 years. It was a change that I knew I was ready to make, but I was hanging on for the next opportunity that was the best fit for me.
I plan on doing a few job/career-related posts in the near future to talk about my experience, things I wish I had known, and advice I'd give others. It was a bit of a struggle towards the end, and I have no qualms about sharing that with other hard-working, driven women who might be reading these posts.
So, October marked my last days with Cover FX, and I also began working for the Houston Rockets part-time! I was so excited to start this adventure, and I've already met so many talented people and learned tons about the NBA, Production, and Event/Stage Management in the first month. Holler at your girl if you're attending any games this season!
October also marked my acceptance of my new full-time gig here in Houston, and I couldn't feel more at peace with my new environment and the decision I made. I'm now a Senior Account Manager at Etched Communication where I'll be diving deeper into the PR world. I'm super excited to begin this new chapter and feel simply lucky to work with other creative individuals in a new space.
Another new chapter I began in October is my Jiu Jitsu journey. I have a lot to say about that, so we'll save it for a separate post.
Other fun things that took place in October: I attended the Fashion Houston event at Cle, where many local fashion designers were featured and their new pieces were modeled.
The green two-piece I'm wearing is from Sabo Skirt (and it's majorly on sale).
My best friend and I attended the Texans opening game (yes, the opening night where they made an insane comeback in the last few minutes), and we left too early to see it in-person! It was also Courtney's first NFL game, so needless to say, we were pretty pissed that we left!
One of my best friends got married at The Magnolia Hotel, and I got to spend time with all of my girlfriends who came in town. It was so good to all be together!
That's about it. All in all, October was a pretty big month for me. Lots of changes, closed chapters, new opportunities, and lots of learning, love, and good people.
What was your highlight for October? Let me know, and if you have any post suggestions for the next few months, leave them in the comments!
