Go-To Green Smoothie

green smoothie recipe

Happy Monday!  Today I thought I'd share my favorite, go-to smoothie when I know I've been a bad girl with my greens.  I've been making an extra effort to get a proper dose of green vegetables in everyday, and I'm

horrible

with bringing them for lunch to work or ordering enough if I go out.

I've been in a bit of a love affair with the Green Mission smoothie at Whole Foods (sorry, babe).  I just can't stay away from it, and no matter how hard I try to order something else off their menu, the damn Green Mission works its charm on me every time.  It's sweet, loaded with greens, and is perfect for when I need a little something extra for lunch but nothing heavy.

I've knocked off the Green Mission and started making at home.  Trust me, this saves you

so

much money.  The small smoothie size at Whole Foods is $6.  You can get all of these ingredients for around $6 and make one for you, your bestie, your boyfriend, his friend, his mom's friend, and their cousins.

What You'll Need:

  • 4 oz coconut water & 4 oz orange juice (I bought a Zico blend)
  • Kale (a handful)
  • Spinach (a handful)
  • 1 frozen banana
  • Apple (as much as you'd like)
  • Frozen pineapple

There's no science, and this smoothie isn't rocket science.  Throw it all in your

blender

and blend to perfection.

Optional:

Add a scoop of

protein powder

if you're making this after a workout, or if you just need to get your protein in.  I usually add some

Organic Plant Based Protein

if I make this for breakfast.

I'm completely smitten with

The Ninja

.  This baby blends almost anything in seconds, and I love using the cups to-go when I'm in a rush in the mornings.

That's it!  Popeye would be proud, right?  Let me know if you try out this Green Mission at home and leave your favorite smoothie recipe below!
